🫁 To Prepare Our Lungs – Open Studio & Reading Group 💀
Wed 16 July 2025, 7–9pm – Doors: 6:30pm, Start: 7pm
Fanshaw Projects, Fanshaw Street, Hoxton, London N1 6LQ
🎟️ Free, please RSVP – just 2 places left!
Join us inside Jane McCabe’s Studio Takeover to discuss death and desire under end-stage capitalism. Using ash, light, and silk, in a ritualised compulsion to record, McCabe’s work gives substance to ephemeral forces and affective durations. We’re reading Expiration: The Last Breath by Franco ‘Bifo’ Berardi, in conversation with Jane’s material practice.
📌 Artquest One to One 📢
Free one-to-one remote advice sessions for London-based artists
12 – 13 August 2025, 10:00-18:00 GMT
Book a free Artquest One-to-one advice session to get feedback about your work, build a strategy for an upcoming project, and get practical career advice. This is the final round before the programme is paused due to funding cuts. With standstill funding from Arts Council England since 2010, and recent real-term cuts to the Department for Culture, many arts organisations are in a precarious position – offering fewer programmes and reduced support for artists.
🖍️ hARTSlane Presents:
Making a Buck Without Selling Out✨
10 Sep – 15 Oct 2025, Wed 6:30-9pm BST
£200, 6-week online course
I’m thrilled to launch Making a Buck Without Selling Out, a new course on artists’ professional practice that I developed with Cristiana Bottigella, co-director of hARTslane. We created this course for artists who want to build a sustainable practice—on their own terms.
Artists are expected to challenge the system, while somehow succeeding within it. The course grew out of the need for a space where artists can ask radical questions – about sustainability, autonomy, and what it really means to keep making work on your own terms.
Whether you’re starting out, returning to your practice, or planning your next steps, Making a Buck Without Selling Out offers a critical and supportive space to build momentum and develop strategies rooted in your values and the realities you work within.
This isn’t a webinar or a masterclass. It’s a space to think together, reflect, and co-develop strategies with peers who are working through the same contradictions – with feedback, resources and one-to-one support. We’re keeping it small (8 artists). It runs for six weeks this autumn. If this resonates, join us.
